The specialized Domestic Violence Court was created in Contra Costa County to ensure follow-through on cases, aid domestic violence survivors, and hold offenders accountable, with the assistance of justice and social service agencies. By specializing in domestic violence offenses, the court aims to process cases more efficiently and deliver more consistent rulings about domestic violence statutes. The court also aims to foster expertise, achieve a coordinated response, hold offenders accountable and provide rehabilitation and deter or prevent offender recidivism.
