Presentations

“A County Capacity Building and Planning Process to Prevent Multiple Forms of Violence” presented at the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Conference and California Partnership to End Domestic Violence Conference.

"Preventing Domestic Violence Homicides: Developing and Implementing a Multidisciplinary Strangulation Task Force” presented at the American Public Health Association’s Annual Conference in collaboration with the Strangulation Task Force and UCSF.

In October 2020, held the Lethality Assessment Protocol (LAP) Virtual Convening to highlight and showcase the work of the Lethality Assessment Program in Contra Costa County.

 

Trainings

Conducted “Race Equity and Prevention: Understanding and Responding to Structural Trauma,” a 3- part training series for partner agencies.

Launched a new and improved contracostaalliance.org with an online learning center.

Launched virtual Trauma 101 training (in English & Spanish), virtual Human Trafficking 101 training (in English).

 

COVID-19
Response

Launched the Family Violence Prevention Task Force, focusing on responding to immediate needs related to interpersonal violence during the pandemic.

Launched the Food++ & Nutrition Task Force connecting food services and response across the County and the Food++ program ensuring those who are COVID-19 positive and unable to leave their home, with food delivery.

Launched the Social Services Rapid Response Team connecting those most impacted by COVID-19 with CalFresh, MediCal, cash assistance, food resources, child care resources, etc.

 

Capacity
Building

Brought in Walnut Creek Police Department and San Ramon Police Department to the Lethality Assessment Program, for a total of five law enforcement jurisdictions now implementing the Domestic Violence Lethality Assessment Protocol.

Completed a comprehensive evaluation of Contra Costa County Domestic Violence Court.

Finalized a comprehensive Violence Prevention Logic Model, outlining the outcomes and activities needed in the next 5 years to fully implement the Violence Prevention Call to Action (strategic plan).

Finalized and launched Contra Costa County’s Call to Action: Preventing Interpersonal Violence, goals, and strategies to prevent violence.

In order to connect older and younger adults, launched Generations Connect, an intergenerational online community-building pilot program.

Received a Department of Justice grant, “Enhanced Training and Services to End Abuse in Later Life Program”.

Re-launched the Domestic Violence Death Review Team, reviewing and analyzing domestic violence deaths in the County in order to make policy recommendations.
